Music and magic and integration + Jens Hartmann: Musik i Danmark

I borrowed more than 100 books in 2019 in Ballerup to pass my module 3 second time.

I finished all 5 modules at KU. Then I took again the 5 modules in Ballerup.

At that time, I was pregnant with my second son. I had very diverse classmates.

Some came from Afghanistan and had very religious dress. Some came from the Balkans, but lived first in Germany.

They had different ways to understand Denmark. They went through very different life possibilities.

Music can be a way to support people in integration. But what if not every song can be accepted by every situation?

Pictures were taken in 2019, and the book was from Ballerup library.

What if a person has never been in a challenging weather situation? Can that person understand a storm song from the Faroe Islands?
What if a person has a different religion from Christianity, and is very afraid to listen to Ave Maria?

Did you know that the idea of the modern Israel, which is called zionism, started in Hungary in the 19th century?

In Hungary in the 19th century, Judaism had numerous ways. The Reform was very different from the nowadays called reform. It was called Neolog.

It was famous that people love to sing Hungarian folk songs from this way of Judaism. Also, it was accepted that they were actors in theatres.

Why is it important ot speak about these rights of the Jews?

During the Big French Revolution, Jews did not have those rights in France. In France, at that time, Jews did not have the right to own and buy land.

"The "big" French Revolution, which occurred from 1789 to 1799, was a period of intense social and political upheaval in France that overthrew the monarchy and the Ancien Régime, establishing the First French Republic and promoting Enlightenment ideals of liberty, equality, and fraternity. Caused by financial crisis, social inequality, and ineffective governance under King Louis XVI, it led to the Storming of the Bastille, the Reign of Terror, and ultimately the rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. The revolution's ideals of individual rights and popular will have had a lasting global impact on modern democracy and nationalism." - Source: AI summary on Google

And do you remember when we talked about Germany-Poland, that because of Napoleon's war, people moved to Denmark?

So when we talk about the next period, the middle of the 19th century, we can see another wave of revolution all over the whole European continent. That is followed by the Industrial Revolution as well.

So how does the music come here?

The Dohány Street synagogue, the largest Neolog temple in Hungary and Europe.

What is so special about this synagogue?
This is the biggest in Europe, and the second biggest in the world.

What more?
My father's father was born on the same street.

What more?
This is a synagogue that has an organ the instrument, just like in a Christian church.

What more?
The father of zionism came from this area.

So when we talk about modern Israel, we need to understand music and Hungary. Without Hungary, modern Israel would never have existed.

And when nowadays people stop the music... what do they stop?

And what about the book from Denmark?
When I went to the language school, I was recommended only to listen to Kim Larsen.

It is not enough.

When I went to Poland in 2011, I asked the representative of AIESEC to send me a list of the Polish actual singers and music hits so I could understand more about Poland.

Denmark is more than just one singer.
